SUCCESS BY THE SUPERNATURAL

Memorise:
But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
Proverbs 4:18

Read: Isaiah 1:18–19

18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
Message

How do you live great and die great? How does a person experience good success in perpetuity? It is by drawing upon the supernatural for good success. How does a man do this? The first thing to do is to know God, the Author of success.

The first step to knowing God is to know who you are as a human being. The scriptures confirms that man is the epitome of God’s creation (Genesis 1:27). Man is a great being because He was made in the image of God. You should however know that all men have sinned, and the wages of sin is death. In the area of sin, man is helpless because he cannot save himself. Only Jesus, who is God that came in the form of man, can save man from sin. Man can only experience smooth fellowship with God when he is delivered from sin. The second step to knowing God is to confess your weaknesses, short-comings, failures and misdemeanours to God. After this, repent whole-heartedly and accept God’s salvation. It is not enough to know God. Whoever will draw upon the supernatural for good success should love God. Loving God is crucial in your bid to experience good success. You should love God because He first loved you. In addition to loving God, you should endeavour to please Him. When a man’s way pleases God, the Almighty will cause even his enemies to be at peace with Him. You should also fellowship with God. One of the main reasons for the creation of man was God’s desire for fellowship. You enjoy fellowship with God when you enter His gates with sincere thanksgiving as His child. Recognise the Name of Jesus and call on Him. You should pay your vows, which includes dealing thoroughly with sins. To remain in fellowship with God, you should never usurp His glory. Speak constantly to the Father in the Spirit and glorify Jesus through the Spirit. Proper fellowship produces great results, such as divine provision, divine protection, divine prosperity and divine promotion. Added to fellowship is asking. Whoever will draw upon the supernatural for good success should learn to ask God for success through prayers and fasting. Thanksgiving is also crucial to this experience. As a Christian who wishes to experience good success always, you should give thanks always. Let your thanksgiving outnumber your requests. Thank God for who He is, what He has done, who you are, what you have and for what you will have.

Action Point:
Thanksgiving is crucial to drawing upon the supernatural for good success. Spend quality time in thanksgiving to God today.

Create With Your Words

CREATE WITH YOUR WORDS
Mark 11:22-23; Proverbs 18:21

Hebrews 11:3 "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."" God did not create man to live at the mercy of people nor situations and circumstances. Man was born of God a king to rule and reign over all the earth,  the birds of the air, the fishes in the oceans, the animals that creep on the earth and the entire plant kingdom. Everything God made was at man's mercy, not the other way round. God made man like Himself. God rules by His Word. His words are decrees; His orders are laws. Man was made a king like God to rule by his decrees. He was made with the capacity to command a thing and see it materialize in no time. Man was made in the image and in the likeness of God (Gen.1:26). The first man fell from that prestigious place. Jesus came as his substitute and rescued mankind from corruption. Now, you can rule your world with the spoken Word. In Christ Jesus, we have been restored back to dignity and power. Too few of us have realized that our words create our world. The realities that are before you today were created by the words you spoke yesterday. You can chart your course in life by the words you speak. In Christ Jesus, you are a king, and your words carry power. You shouldn't speak empty, idle, inactive words. You should carefully select your words by wisdom, such that when you see what you said, you'll be glad. Beloved, speak what you believe and see it leap into being for you. Create your world with your words. You can enjoy life as a king, not as a beggar who lives life at the mercy of other people.

Other Scriptures for Meditation: Genesis 1:1-3; Genesis 1:26

The Sheild of Faith

Leverage daily devotional by pastor segun obadje.                                                          Saturday, October 25
THE SHIELD OF FAITH
Hebrews 11:33-34; 1 John5:4

Ephesians 6:16 "Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked". Faith is not only a weapon of attack but also of defense. Our opening scripture reveals that faith is a shield; it uses the expression "shield of faith". What does it shield from? It shields from the fiery darts of the wicked one, that is, the devil and all his demonic hosts. This not only reveals the importance of faith but also its potency. Faith is indispensable and inevitable in our walk with God and in our spiritual combat. Faith is absolute confidence in God through His Word that makes the heart come to rest in His faithfulness, such that one speaks, thinks and acts the Word unconsciously. This is amazing, isn't it? This is the confidence faith in God breeds that immunes you to all (note the word, ALL) the fiery darts of the wicked. Faith in God can quench all the fiery darts of the wicked; not some, but absolutely all. This brings to mind the limitlessness of faith in adequately dealing with all, magnitude and type notwithstanding, the fiery darts of the wicked. The Word tells us in Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen". We have confidence in God based on His Word that He is our secret place of safety and that we're in Christ, the Solid Rock of Ages; and we are thinking in line, talking in line and acting in line with this truth of God's Word. Beloved, you may not be able to stop the enemy from throwing his fiery darts, but you can always stop ALL his fiery darts from reaching you by engaging the shield of faith, which is absolute confidence in God based on His Word. Don't think like or talk like or act like God is not for you. Never doubt His love and support for you. Don't remove the shield of faith.

Other Scriptures for Meditation: Job 22:25 Psalm 94:22

My Solid Front (Confession)
In the Name of Jesus, I declare that, by the protective shield of faith I am impregnable by all the fiery darts of the devil. Amen.

The Bread Of Life

The Leverage daily devotional by pastor segun obadje                                                    Friday, October 24
THE BREAD OF LIFE
Proverbs 4:20-22; John 1:1-3

: Matthew 4:4 "But he answered and said, it is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God"". Bread is a term which stands for food in Scriptures. It depicts the substance of sustenance. Natural bread sustains natural life, while spiritual bread sustains spiritual life. The Word of God is the bread of spiritual life. Man is essentially a spirit being whose spirit substance needs to be sustained consistently. Jesus said in John 6:63, "it is the spirit that gives life the word I speak unto you are spirit and life"". The spirit of man is sustained and energized by the Word of God. Light and understanding for progress comes to man through his spirit by the Word of God. Man lives by the Word of God. Our sustenance and nourishment comes from God's Word. A famished spirit that is starved of God's Word cannot function effectively in the realm of the God-kind. We have to be well fed with God's Word to realize all the possibilities and realities of the life of God in us. Beloved, feed your spirit with God's Word through meditating, confessing and acting on God's Word. Live by the Word of God daily.

Other Scriptures for Meditation: Colossians 3:16; Joshua 1:8

My Solid Front (Confession)
In the Name of Jesus, The Word of God is food for my spirit, I consistently depend on God's word for my well-being, I live by the Word. Amen.

Turning Weakness Into Blessings

Open Heavens Daily Devotion by Pastor E. A. Adeboye
Friday October 24

TURNING WEAKNESSES INTO BLESSINGS

Memorise:
And said unto him, hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
Matthew 21:16

Read: Exodus 4:10–12

10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.
11 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?
12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
Message

Our God is a God of miracles. He moves in mysterious ways and He still calls people to His side today. Many people have the call of God on their life but do not know. Some people believe they are too weak to be used of God, while some others, who are already in a position of service, are facing frustration or even failure. God is not the author of confusion. He calls His own into blessings and glory. There are times in the service of God when we have to move, and there are other times when we have to wait patiently for His move. Proverbs 3:5 says:
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
Are you weak and confused? Trust in the Lord. God has not forgotten the weak. When God calls a person to His service, He doesn’t chose Him on the basis of how clever, talented or educated he is (1 Corinthians 1:26). God had to strip Paul of all his pride vis-à-vis his qualifications, status and achievements before sending him to the ignorant and outcast people called Gentiles (Philippians 3:8). Paradoxically, God used the ignorant and unlearned Peter in proclaiming the Good News to the elite Jews of the Roman Empire (Acts 2:5&14). The good news about weaknesses is that, the Holy Spirit is available to qualify for God’s service, the weak who puts his or her trust in the Lord.

To turn weakness to strength, you should be meek and humble. This does not imply that you should give in to a sense of inferiority complex, self-pity, self-hatred or self-consciousness (2 Corinthians 12:10). Weaknesses and inadequacies can become blessings if they press us to depend on Christ (2 Corinthians 12:9). Another step to turning your weaknesses to strength is to exchange your strength for His strength. To do this, you must acknowledge your weaknesses, limitations and great need for God. You must also present yourself as a living sacrifice to Him (Romans 12:1). Learn to wait on God (Isaiah 40:31). Patiently wait for His time. Ensure that you do not take any major decisions or major actions until He shows you that it is time to act (Luke 24:49). Don’t get ahead of God, neither should you lag behind Him. Wait patiently on Him in prayer and fasting (Psalm 69:6). Spend quality time each day to read the Bible and to pray. Finally, you should develop a strong devotional habit and expect opposition and trials. You should know that when you try to go deeper and higher with God, the world, your human nature and demonic principalities will oppose you.

Key Point:
When you wait patiently on the Lord, He purges the dross of sin and flesh away from you and His power begins to work in you and through you, with supernatural results.

Answering A Missionary Call

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: THURSDAY 23 OCTOBER 2014

THEME: ANSWERING A MISSIONARY CALL

MEMORISE: And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. Mark 16:20

READ: ACTS 13:1–5

1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

4 So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

5 And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 KINGS 4-6 and PROVERBS 15:25-16:5

MESSAGE

Missions can be defined as God specifically sending a person to reach the unreached for him. The unreached are those people who have not heard the gospel sufficiently enough to be taken over for Christ. The sender is God, and the personality sent is the missionary. The unreached can be within the environment of the missionary or in faraway lands. A Call is imperative for missionary work. The missionary call is just like any other call to Christian service. Many people have shipwrecked their lives because they were not sure of God’s call upon their life. If you are sure of God’s call upon your life, you will not be tossed to and fro by all shades of doctrine. Being called to be a missionary is by God’s grace; it does not follow a stereotyped style. Factors underlying God’s call include acknowledging and receiving a claim of ownership by Christ. You must acknowledge divine ownership upon your life and develop an understanding of God’s will and have the willingness to do it. You should also develop sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s voice by having an open mind, an attentive ear and a pure heart. In addition, you should be active in God’s service. A missionary call does not necessarily come through a special revelation. The call can come through a casual remark by a friend or neighbour about the heathen. It can be through a letter received from a missionary or through reading extracts from an article, book or periodical. It can be through a hymn, an anointed message, counselling from an anointed leader or through divinely orchestrated circumstances. Are you prepared to answer the missionary call?

A missionary should be physically fit to withstand adverse situations such as mosquitoes, bad climates, diseases, poor public sanitation and poor medical services. Also, a prospective missionary should at least be at the level of his or her audience. In other words, a missionary must be adequately educated to reach the highest of all the educated folks in the mission field and should be able to meet and discuss with other missionaries at their level. To excel as a missionary, you need a charming personality that is emotionally stable. You should also be able to adapt to the culture and food of other people. There is equally the need for you to be patient and persevering. A missionary should be versatile. He or she should also be submissive to God, the mission board and to his or her superior officers. Finally, whoever wishes to be a missionary should have a thorough experience of salvation, sanctification and the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

ACTION POINT:

For success on the field, every missionary should ask for the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Go ahead and ask for these gifts now.

Wield The Sword Of The Spirit

The Leverage daily devotional by Pastor Segun Obadje
Thursday, October 23.                   WIELD THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT
Acts 19:20; Hebrews 4:12

Ephesians 6:17 "And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" The Word tells us that the Word of God is the sword of the recreated human spirit. Our warfare is not carnal; our weapons of warfare are not carnal, either. The Word tells us in Ephesians 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places". Seeing that our warfare and weapon of warfare are not carnal, we must learn to engage our spiritual weapons. The Word teaches that the sword of the recreated human spirit is the Word of God, that is, our weapon of attack against the enemy is the Word of God. Beloved, the Word of God cannot be engaged without speaking it. In engaging the Word in spiritual battle, we put it in our lips of faith and speak it boldly and loudly against all the fiery darts of the wicked. It is the Word in the lips of faith that's potent and active. The Word declares in Acts 19:20 "So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed". In the city of Ephesus, the Word grew mightily and prevailed. It was the spoken, proclaimed Word that grew mightily and prevailed. The Word in the pages of the bible cannot prevail in your situation until you begin to speak and proclaim it boldly in faith. This is what it means to wield the sword of the spirit. The Word is projected through your lips as a potent weapon of victory as you speak it boldly in faith. It is so beautiful and refreshing to know that the Word happens when you speak it. It is what we say in faith of what God has said concerning us that will prevail in our situation. Wield the sword of the spirit!

Other Scriptures for Meditation: Romans 10:8-10; 2 Corinthians 4:13

My Solid Front (Confession)
In the Name of Jesus, I wield the sword of the spirit by projecting from my lips the word of Faith and I prevail by speaking the word of faith today. Amen

You Are Not Alone

YOU ARE NOT ALONE
Psalms 37:28; Matthew 28:20

Hebrews 13:5 "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."" One of the greatest fears that have plagued the human race is the fear of loneliness. People are afraid to be left alone without anyone committing to them in love to bear their burdens. Many enter into wrong relationships for the fear of being lonely. However, God has given unto us His ever present presence. This is worth more than heaven and earth. The Believer does not have to think of a possible moment of being lonely. Even in the face of daunting situations and circumstances that threaten, you must remember God's Word to you. "I will never leave you nor forsake you"" (Heb. 13:5); and again in Matthew 28:20 "and,lo, I am with you."" God is with you, now. God's presence with us guarantees constant success on every ground of life's combats. We are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us. Every resource of heaven is at our reach because God is with us. We have the final say in all matters of life because God is with us. Beloved, do not shiver or quiver, because God is with you, and He will always put you on top of every situation you face in life. Remind yourself that God is with you and therefore you are not alone, and because of His sure presence you can leap over every challenging situation.

Other Scriptures for Meditation: Psalms 94:14; Psalms 37:25

My Solid Front (Confession)
In the Name of Jesus, I acknowledge that I am not alone in this world, God is with me because He promised never to forsake me. Amen

Ready For Great Harvest

READY FOR THE GREAT HARVEST?

Memorise:
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Matthew 28:19

Read: Acts 13:38–39

38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:
39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
Message

Our God has so many wonderful attributes. Some of these attributes, such as omnipotence, omnipresence and being omniscient are unique to Him alone. There are other attributes which God as a wonderful Father, shares with His children. These include holiness, mercy and love. God is love. John 3:16 says:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
One of the ways God demonstrated His love to mankind was by making adequate provision for salvation (1 John 1:8-9). As a child of God, you can demonstrate the love of God to the world through evangelism and missions. The term ‘evangelism’ denotes sharing good news from a loving God to a lost world. The Great Commission is binding on all Christians (Matthew 28:18-20). The need to fulfil this mandate is ever so urgent, especially with the imminent return of our Lord. Every child of God is called to be a “reaper”. Are you ready for the great harvest? As a child of God, you are expected to rightly divide the word of truth. There is no geographical limitation or racial restrictions to fulfilling the Great Commission (Mark 13:10, Acts 1:8).

To be actively involved in evangelism, it is required that you wisely utilise the different opportunities that present themselves to you in the course of your daily business, without appearing to be over-bearing. With the power of the Holy Spirit and the wisdom of God, even a newly born-again Christian can win souls on a continuous basis. Soul winning is one of the reasons God retained you on earth, and you should be particular about it. As a Christian, you can do effective evangelism in the vehicle you board, at social gatherings, birthday celebrations and send-off parties. You can also engage in hospital visitations to pray for the sick, give them provisions, befriend them – especially if they feel lonely and poor, preach salvation through Jesus Christ to them and bring Bibles and good Christian literature for them to read. You can also be involved in prison visitation. You can visit prisoners, write letters to them, send them good reading materials and give them gifts with the permission of the authorities. Other ways in which you can be involved in evangelism include, placing illustrated gospel tracts on your table after eating in a restaurant, around school campuses, on bus-stop benches and in departmental stores as you buy or sell. Additionally, you can be involved in house-to-house evangelism. Are you ready?

Action Point:
Make evangelism a habit, because it is uppermost on God’s heart.

You Don't Have The Spirit Of Fear

The Leverage daily devotional by Pastor Segun Obadje
Tuesday, October 21
YOU DON'T HAVE THE SPIRIT OF FEAR
Romans 8:15; Hebrews 2:14-15

2 Timothy 1:7 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" The above scripture opens with an emphatic revelation of God's will for the believer. It says God hasn't given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind. This is powerful. God hasn't given us the spirit of fear, which means we don't have the spirit of fear because God hasn't given it to us. You don't want to have what God didn't give you, do you? No, you don't. If He hasn't given you the spirit of fear, then you don't have it. Period! Fear is of the devil; it is not of God. God ministers faith to us, not fear. God's Word ministers faith to us, not fear. Romans 10:17 says, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." When you hear God, faith rises within you; but when you hear the devil, fear is the result. Knowing that fear is of the devil gives the believer every right and confidence to resist fear whenever it comes to overwhelm him. Refuse to be afraid. Refuse to let the devil harass you with fear and inferiority. You can resist him and he and his fear will flee from you. The Word declares in James 4:7 that, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you". You are the one to resist the devil, not God. Don't wait for God to come down and resist him for you. He's given you the authority in His Name to put him on the run. Beloved, anytime fear comes knocking at your door, say: "In the Name of Jesus Christ, I resist you, and I refuse to cave in to you. I am not of fear; I am of God. God hasn't given me the spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind"". Hallelujah! This is bible faith at work!

Other Scriptures for Meditation: Proverbs 28:1; Hebrews 13:5-6

Here Comes The Dreamer

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: SUNDAY 19 OCTOBER 2014

THEME: HERE COMES THE DREAMER

MEMORISE: In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, Job 33:15–16

READ: GENESIS 37:9–19

9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.

10 And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

11 And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.

12 And his brethren went to feed their father's flock in Shechem.

13 And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I.

14 And he said to him, Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.

15 And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, What seekest thou?

16 And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they feed their flocks.

17 And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.

18 And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.

19 And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 SAMUEL 21-22 and PROVERBS 14:4-17

MESSAGE

Dreams are important. Psychoanalysts believe that dreams are an indication of the dreamer’s inner longings, desires and cravings, released from the deep sub-conscious during the state of sleep. Dreams can therefore be the manifestation of the inner yearnings of the dreamer’s heart let loose during sleep; they can also be spiritually induced. Dreams play a significant role in the life of human beings. Paul received direction on where to preach next through a dream in Acts 16:9:
“And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.”

Dreams are sometimes mysterious; such dreams convey revelations. To understand them, interpretation is required. Have you been having strange experiences in your dreams? My sincere prayer is that the Good Lord will grant you victory in your dreams and turn your God-sent dreams into reality in Jesus’ Name. Dreams can be classified by their features. One such classification includes: dreams as a message from God or the devil; dreams as the carrier of a message concealed in mysteries; and dreams as a result of activity or thoughts. Sources of dreams are God, the devil and the flesh. God relates with man through dreams for specific reasons. These reasons can be any of these: to instruct him to carry out an action (Matthew 2:13), to warn him of an impending danger (Matthew 2:22), to teach him (Job 33:15-16), to encourage him (Genesis 31:10-13), to rebuke him (Genesis 31:24), to correct him (Genesis 20:3-7) and to bless or make a covenant with him (Genesis 28:12-15). The devil relates with man to cause fear and unbelief, to inflict man with sicknesses or death, to make diabolical covenants with him and to mislead him. Most dreams men have are from the flesh. A dream from the flesh simply means the revelation of the dreamer’s carnal longings and desires being let loose at the moment of sleep. Are you facing afflictions in your dreams? Please check your life. How pure are your thoughts? How will you rate your prayer life? All these go a long way in determining the type of dreams you have. Moreover, many people dream and can be described as mere dreamers, whereas those who succeed in life are men and women with a dream[truncated by WhatsApp]

Being Filled With The Spirit: Habit

BEING FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT: HABIT

John 1:32
32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
KJV

God's desire for every Christian is that we would walk the earth in the power and grace with which Jesus walked when he was here. That is what it really means to be Christian, it means to be like Christ .

One of the major reasons why Jesus did such great works on the earth and walked in so much grace was because he was filled with the spirit without measure( see John 3:34). This means there was no point in His life that He was not filled with the Holy Spirit. The problem with us most times is that after spending time in God's presence and being filled with the spirit, as soon as we step out  and have to deal with other people, we begin to loose our infilling. This is not the will of God. In the following days We Shall  examine the life of Christ and the teachings of the apostles to see how one can truly stay filled with the Holy Spirit at all times . This is one of the greatest needs every Christian has.

Go into today praying and desiring to stay filled with the holy spirit at all times.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father because you do not give me impossible assignments; so I thank you that being filled with the spirit always is a possibility for me. Please help me do this, in Jesus name.

Be Anxious For Nothing

The Leverage daily devotional by Pastor Segun Obadje
Sunday, October 19
BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING
Matthew 6:25-34; 1 Peter 5:7

Philippians 4:6 "Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God". Anxiety is sin; it is as much sin as fornication, murder and unbelief. In fact it is sheer expression of distrust in God's ability to cater for one and one's. The Word commands us to be anxious for nothing, that is, no thing; meaning nothing must be strong or big enough to make us anxious. We are to be anxious for nothing. Someone may ask how, in an imperfect world, this instruction is possible. Well, God can't tell you to do what you couldn't do. He is faithful and just. Being anxious for nothing is possible because the just God said so. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you". God cares for you and you have to know it. The Word doesn't say He is indifferent about your cares or needs like some people suppose. The Word doesn't say to cast some of your needs upon Him, either. It says to cast ALL your care on Him because He cares for you. You see, nobody knows God as much as the Word. Whatever the Word says about Him is the truth. The Word says He cares for you; therefore don't think He doesn't. Let your thoughts be in line with the Word. God cares for you affectionately and He watches over you diligently. Believe the Word of God! If we are to be anxious for nothing, how then do we handle our cares and burdens? We are to cast them upon God in prayers once and for all. We are to turn them into requests in prayer to God and then believe we received what we asked for, and it shall be done for us of our Heavenly Father. Pray and be thankful to God instead of being anxious. Beloved, be anxious for nothing!

Other Scriptures for Meditation: Psalm 55:22; Luke 12:22-28

My Solid Front (Confession)
In the Name of Jesus, I refuse to be anxious. I cast all burdens, worries and legitimate concerns on the lord today. Amen.

Running With Endurance

RUNNING WITH ENDURANCE

Heb 12:1

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us
NKJV

He is comparing our (Christian) life with athletes who are running a race on a track; the spectators are referred to here as the crowd of witnesses who were introduced in Hebrews 11; they are those who through faith walked with God and obtained a place in His kingdom. They are those who have run a similar race to the one you are running right now; they have lived in this world and have experienced similar things to what you are experiencing.

The race we are to run with endurance is our life here on earth under God.

The reason why God instructs you to run this race with endurance is because like every race, there is sometimes the tendency to want to give up and quit. You should know that it is a race and not a stroll so there is a price and this is why you should not quite.

Go into today determined to follow Jesus to the end because he truly rewards those who do so.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father for giving me the privilege of walking with you. I pray you help me walk worthy of my calling, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

ANGELS LOVE MUSIC TOO

Memorise:
But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
Psalm 22:3

Read: Acts 16:25–34

25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.
27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.
29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.
33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.
Message
The charge “Occupy till I come” was an express command given by the Lord Jesus Christ to His disciples (Luke 19:13). Yesterday, we learnt that to occupy means to take charge of already conquered territories. As a child of God, it is your responsibility to exercise authority over your enemy - the devil. Though he was made perfect in beauty and wisdom, his beauty and wisdom have been tarnished and corrupted by sin (Ezekiel 28:17). The devil is now full of destructive wisdom, but his wisdom cannot stand even the foolishness of God; how much more the wisdom of God at work in believers (1 Corinthians 1:24). The devil, your accuser, is cunning (Revelation12:10), but you can live a triumphant life over him by the Blood of the Lamb, prayer, the word of your testimony (your confessions and proclamations) and by singing praises to the Lord. Revelation 12:11 says:
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”

Many Christians lose out in the battle of life because they do not know who they are and the nature of the fight they are involved in. You are not fighting against flesh and blood. You are at war with an enemy who has thousands of years of experience with human beings, right from the Garden of Eden, where he attacked Eve. Satan knows his strategy well. He is a dangerous enemy who doesn’t get distracted. It is therefore imperative that you fight against this enemy with the word of God in prayer. Prayers are very powerful. A prayerful Christian is a powerful Christian. The greatest demoraliser Satan uses is fear. God has not given us the spirit of fear; therefore, we are not to be afraid of the devil (2 Timothy 1:7)! The exact opposite of fear is faith. It is a known fact that Satan loves music. He loves dangerous, perverse and distorted music. The day God made Lucifer who later became the devil, He built musical instruments into his body (Ezekiel 28:13). He was the choir master of heaven. Now, Satan takes more souls to hell through music than through any other means. Angels love music too. The more you sing praises to God, the more you irritate Satan because you remind him of his glorious past and his lost opportunity. Satan is irritated because he knows that whenever you praise God you are making God happy. God loves music too. The devil also knows that whenever you are praising God, the Almighty will draw nigh to you (Psalm 22:3). Christ was able to overcome the devil through compassion, love and humility. These are indispensable weapons you need.

Action Point:
Irritate the devil today by singing beautiful songs of worship to the Lord.

God Is Not Man

GOD IS NOT MAN
Isaiah 55:10- 11; Titus 1:2

Numbers 23:19 "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" The opening text tells us that God is not a man, that He should lie. Honest men may make honest promises in all honesty, but may be limited in resources to make their words good. That speaks volume about how limited and hands-tied man could be. Some men are willing to help people but not able, while others are able but not willing; but with God there is both willingness and ability at all times. Little wonder the Word says in Isaiah 2:22 "Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?" Anyone who puts his trust in man is done for. God is faithful, able, willing and dependable; He can't let you down. You can trust Him. God is not man. He is not limited by the limitations and boundaries of man. He is not subject to the things man is subject to. He is sovereign and almighty. The Word tells us in Isaiah 26:3-4 "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength". Beloved, you'll be preserved in perfect peace (wholeness, safety, prosperity, salvation, calmness) when you stay your mind on God because in Him is everlasting. The Spirit of God speaking of God in Psalms 89:34 says, "My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips". God can't go back on His Word because there is no lack of ability or resources with Him; with Him all things are possible. Beloved, you can trust Him with you and yours, and He'll take care of you. You can build your entire life and future on His unchanging and unchangeable Word because God is not man.

Other Scriptures for Meditation: Hebrews 6:18; Hebrews 10:23

My Solid Front (Confession)
In the Name of Jesus, I stay my mind on God's word, trusting Him with all of my heart for in Him is everlasting strength. Amen

A Youth In The Community

A YOUTH IN THE COMMUNITY

Memorise:
Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O LORD.
Psalm 25:7

Read: Ecclesiastes 12:1-7

1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;
2 While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain:
3 In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened,
4 And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low;
5 Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:
6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.
7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Message
A youth can be defined as a young man or woman who is strong in body and sound in mind. Youths make up the bulk of a typical community. Ideally, youths are the men and women of war. A man of war is an instrument of both protection and destruction. He protects his friends but destroys his foes (1 Samuel 17:33). The best time to be focused in life is the time of youth. It is the most productive period in the life of a person. Lamentations 3:27 says:
“It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.”

It should be noted however that youths have their limitations. Though they are strong, energetic and sound in mind, they have their weaknesses. For example, many decisions that a youth will take will require the counsel and probably the assistance of elders, so as to avoid blunders. Are you are a youth? Don’t forget that you need valuable advice from elders (Proverbs 20:29). The time of youth is delicate. Youths can fall and fail if they not careful (Isaiah 40:30). If care is not taken, the young can be used in the community by evil-minded people as miscreants to perpetrate mischief and unleash terror on innocent persons. Youths need guidance because of their inexperience (Proverbs 2:16-18). Young people are often despised, looked down upon and disdained (1 Timothy 4:12). They are also susceptible to temptation, thus, the best time to give appropriate guidance to a person is in his or her youthful age. Also, the best time to remember God is at the period of youth (Ecclesiastes 12:1). Young people make up the bulk of the society and they are the ones that bring about its growth. Are you a youth and a child of God? You have a crucial role to play in your community. First, it is your duty to love your community and have its best interests at heart. If you do, you will pray for your community (Luke 18:1). Go all out to seek its welfare. Secondly, as a youth, you can contribute greatly to the growth of your community by bringing in new ideas. All developed societies utilise their young people to the maximum, harnessing their energy and innovation. Youths generate modern and creative ideas. They are strong and can be given any assignment, being at their productive peak. As a Christian youth, you can be an asset to your community when you live holy and submit yourself to the Holy Spirit. Are you an elder? Encourage the youths in your community to maximize their potentials. Pray for them. Guide and counsel them to be committed to God’s agenda.

Action Point:
To be an asset to your community, be committed to a Christ–like pattern of living, and commit yourself to people and God’s program.

Take Advantage Of The Anointing

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE ANOINTING
Matthew 8:16; John 6:63

Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart". Everything and everyone whom God has sent is anointed to deliver its or his message. Our opening verse says the Word is quick, that is, life-giving, and powerful, which means that it is full of power. Anything that's life-giving and full of power is anointed, isn't it? The Word of God is anointed; it contains the power of God to deliver on every promise or details of its revelation. Again in Psalms 107:20 the Word says, "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions". The Word of God has both healing and deliverance power. Empty words can neither heal nor deliver. God's Word is not void of power to deliver what it talks about. There is anointing in the Word of God to make it what it says. You can take advantage of the anointing the Word contains by a simple exercise of faith in the Word. Whenever God's Word comes your way, remind yourself of the anointing it possesses to make itself good always and in every situation. The Word is anointed to deliver, therefore as you hear God's Word, receive it in this light and be confident in the power therein to make you what it talks about. Put the Word in your heart (by meditation) and in your mouth as you speak it with boldness and confidence in the fact that it cannot fail because it has inherent power to come to pass. This is how to take advantage of the anointing.

Other Scriptures for Meditation: Luke 4:31-36; Hebrews 1:3

My Solid Front (Confession)
In the name of Jesus, I declare that the word of God is alive in me, working mightily in me and in my situations. Halleluyah! Amen

Why Am I So Depressed?

WHY AM I SO DEPRESSED?

Psalms 42:11 "Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God."
KJV

Life is full of situations and occurrences that can leave us suppressed, troubled and discouraged. There are times that you just feel depressed without knowing why. Depression has a way of taking away our peace thus leaving behind a trail of internal turmoil. Is that your situation or are you susceptible to bouts of depression? You are not alone in this.

In the passage of scripture under consideration today, we see a man who went through his own share of bouts of depression. If there was any man that was susceptible to struggling with this issue of depression with its attendant fear, self-doubt, and uncertainty, that man was king David. So, the question is did he give in? How did he go through all of that and still came out standing tall as a man after God's own heart? How did he survive all that turmoil and hatred but still finished strong: "Acts 13:36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers..." ?

The answer is right there: hope thou in God, for I shall yet praise Him... You see, friends, the Lord prescribes the cure for depression in this passage through His servant David. When your hope is in God, you will have the strength to face life's challenges on a daily basis. God is the reason for our living, when you come to this realization, you will have a reason to press on in the midst of uncertainty and difficulties. The cure for depression as prescribed by YAHWEH Himself is praise! You see, when the Lord is your hope, you will find the courage to praise Him in the storm, and you know what, He will calm the storm!

Go into today determined to hope in God and praise Him in every situation.

Reasons For Challenges 2

REASONS FOR CHALLENGES 2

2 Cor 4:11
For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.
KJV

What does delivered unto death mean? It means that God lets challenges come our way so that the flesh can be weak and let God’s glory shine through our mortal bodies. Any man who is still alive to the flesh cannot fully manifest Gods glory because too much of “self” would be involved. We should let the Holy Spirit work in us and break our outward man because what we can do for ourselves is nothing compared to what God can do with us once we are broken. So in other words, let’s stop seeing challenges as problems and start seeing them as opportunities to be broken by Christ and truly manifest his glory.

Go into today looking at every challenge with a new attitude, and seeing the hand of God shaping your life into what it is meant to be.

Prayer: Dear lord, help me to die to the flesh so I can manifest your glory. And thank you for being strong in my weakness and perfect through my imperfections.

Don't Quench The Spirit's Fire

Leverage Devotional by Pastor Segun Obadje                                   Thursday, October 16
DON'T QUENCH THE SPIRIT'S FIRE
Ephesians 4:29-31; Ephesians 5:18-19

I Thessalonians 5:19-20 "Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings."" In the above Scripture, we are exhorted not to quench the Spirit. This immediately suggests to us that the Spirit of God can be quenched. What does it mean to quench the Spirit? We can get a better understanding of the word by looking at a few other Bible versions. The Amplified Bible says "Do not quench (suppress or subdue) the [Holy] Spiritâ¦"" The Phillips New Testament version says "Never damp the fire of the Spiritâ¦"" God's Word version says "Don't put out the Spirit's fire."" From the different Bible translations, it's clear that to quench the Spirit is to suppress Him; it's to damp or put out His fire. One of the Scriptural symbols of the Holy Spirit is fire. On the day of Pentecost, in Acts 2:3 when the Holy Ghost came upon the disciples in the upper room, the Scripture says cloven tongues like fire came upon the disciples. The Holy Spirit comes like fire hence the admonition to not quench Him. To quench the Spirit means that the Holy Spirit is not given room to move or express Himself in our lives either as individuals or as a body of believers gathered together. There are people who think that the Holy Spirit will move whenever He wills and that nothing we do could hinder Him from moving. But 1 Thessalonians 5:19 shows us that we could hinder the Holy Spirit from moving. The next verse, 1 Thessalonians 5:20 says "Despise not prophesyings"". Notice that verse 19 and 20 are linked together. In essence when we despise prophesyings we quench the Spirit of God. This applies to other manifestations and workings of the Holy Spirit too. In 1 Corinthians 14:39, Paul said "Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues."" We must not come to the place where we feel we are too dignified or too sophisticated for the move of the Holy Spirit. We must continually place value on the workings of the Spirit in our midst.

Other Scriptures for Meditation: John 7:37-38; Romans 12:11

My Solid Front (Confession)
In the Name of Jesus, I refuse to quench the Spirit of God rather I learn to stir up the gift within me. I yield myself to the promptings of the Holy Spirit always. Amen.

Don't Belittle God's Anointed

The Leverage daily devotional by Pastor Segun Obadje

DON'T BELITTLE GOD'S ANOINTED
2 Chronicles 20:20; Matthew 10:41

Luke 4:18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised" Everyone whom God has sent is anointed to deliver God's message with power and performance. However, not everyone whom God has called or to whom God has sent the called is aware of this truth. Our opening text calls to mind that Jesus was anointed because God had sent Him preach the Gospel. God didn't anoint Jesus just for the fun of it, no- a thousand times, no! Jesus was anointed because God had sent Him to preach the Gospel. Everyone God sends is anointed to deliver God's message. In Hebrews 5:4 the Word declares, "And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron"; meaning the honour to assume the call of God is not self-arrogated, but God-given. Therefore anyone who has been called and sent of God with a clear-cut message of the Gospel is anointed to deliver. Receiving God's anointed in the Name of the Lord is receiving the blessing he or she is anointed with or for. This is the wisdom of God. The Word tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 to esteem highly those whom God has sent to us, who labour among us and have been set over us in the Lord; "And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves". When we receive them and their ministries we are blessed for it.

Other Scriptures for Meditation: Hebrews 5:4: 1 Kings 17:10-16

My Solid Front (Confession)
In the Name of Jesus, I have spiritual intelligence, therefore, I honour that which God has anointed both with my substance and with hearty service. Amen

Do We Really Trust God

DO WE REALLY TRUST GOD

1Chronicles 5:20
And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.
KJV

From our text above, God did not answer the sons of Ruben because they cried unto Him, but because they trusted Him.

I have observed that our God does not overlook issues of faith; He never turns His back on people who put their trust in Him. The bible even has a record of a woman, an unbeliever whose daughter Jesus healed because of her faith in Him.

But there is a little problem and it’s the fact that though most Christians are aware of the omnipotent nature of our God, only a few really trust Him. This is the reason for many unanswered prayers.

Jesus gave a condition for our prayers to be answered in mark 11...He said before we pray we must believe that we would receive what we ask, but how many times do we come into His presence with plenty of doubt and fear, all God needs to use as a justification to speedily answer is our faith not doubts, fears or even tears.

Go into today trusting the lord for whatever difficult situation you are going through believing that He has done it already( see Prov 3:5-6).

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father for your great power and great love. I pray you help me trust you with all my heart, in Jesus name. Amen

The Old Time Religion

Tuesday October 14

THE OLD TIME RELIGION

Memorise:
Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
1 Timothy 4:16

Read: 2 Timothy 3:16-17

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Message
In a world of confusing and conflicting messages, there is need from time to time to check your foundation and the core of your faith as a Christian. You need the ‘old-time religion’ (Jeremiah 6:16). Ours is not dead religion as practised by the world, but rather, a way of life in the Spirit that has its foundation on belief in the Bible as the word of God. We believe in the Trinity, the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His atonement and resurrection, the need for repentance, new birth, justification, sanctification, the Holy Spirit, grace (and the possibility of falling from it), the rapture, the second coming of Christ, the judgments, Heaven and Hell. The believers of old were sticklers to the word of God. They knew that the word of God was good enough and sufficient for them. Joshua 1:8 says,
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

It is imperative that you believe and obey the word of God. If only the children of God would believe His word and obey it, the blessings they would get from God would not only grant them material success, but also eternal life. In addition, they will enjoy good health and safety from evil men and women. The word of God is a Book of Redemption. It has the inspiration (breath) of God in it. God had the Bible written by revelation; it was transmitted through a method free of error and mistakes. The word of God is authentic because every word in the Bible is inspired (Matthew 5:18). All the written words of God are immortal, infallible, and indestructible (2 Timothy 3:16, 1 Peter 1:23). Has God made you a promise in His word? Believe and hold on to it. That promise will definitely come to fulfilment. The Bible is also a supernatural revelation from God. As such, it has supernatural effects upon the heart, soul (mind) and will of man. It is a dynamic revelation from God which has dynamic quality. The word of God is effectual (Isaiah 55:10-11) and powerful (Hebrews 4:12), having the power to save, heal, deliver, and to set free. It cleanses (Psalm 119:9), gives wisdom and understanding (Psalm 19:7) and brings comfort and peace (Romans 15:4). It is only through obedience to the word of God that we can remain holy and preserved from sin and error. Do you want to be fulfilled on earth? Do you want to enjoy peace of mind? Do you want to be victorious? Do you want to make it to heaven? Read, meditate on and obey the word of God.

Action Point:
Have you read your Bible today? Begin to study the word of God on daily basis from today.

Make The Most Of Your Time

MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR TIME
Ecclesiastes 3:1; Ephesians 5:16

Ephesians 5:16 "Redeeming the time, because the days are evil". Time is God's free gift to man with which we can either make our lives count or count our lives. Time always offers the opportunity to become who you were designed to be or achieve worthwhile goals on the journey of success. Anyone who doesn't value time, doesn't value life. Our lives were designed by God to unfold in time; therefore there is process and phases in the fulfilment of destiny. Time offers the privilege of process, development and achievement. God's instruction to us in our opening scripture talks about redeeming time, because the days are evil. The Word tells us the reason it's important to redeem time; it says because the days are evil. Evil always catches up with people who misuse time. The more efficient you are with the use of time, the better you can realize your God-given dreams and purposes. To redeem time is to use it for what it is meant for. The Word says in Ecclesiastes 3:1, "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven". This scripture tells of time defining seasons and purposes in our lives. Every time comes with its peculiar season and purpose; every time is meant for something specific according to God's assignment. Redeeming time, therefore is engaging the purpose for which each time was designed. It takes wisdom and understanding to redeem time. The Word tells us in verse 17 of Ephesians 5 to be wise and to understand the will of God.

Other Scriptures for Meditation: 1 Chronicles 12:32; 1 Corinthians 1:30

My Solid Front (Confession)
In the Name of Jesus, I have accurate understanding of the times and seasons by the wisdom of God therefore redeeming time. Amen

Reasons For Challenges 1

REASONS FOR CHALLENGES 1

2 COR 1:9
Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God who raises the dead.
NLT

Sometime we go through things that we feel are just too much for us, we may face challenges that make us feel like God has abandoned us. But sometimes these things happen so that we can realize that we have no power of our own. It is through us that the glory of God can be made visible and God can only truly be glorified when there is no more “self” involved. These challenges sometimes bring us to the end of ourselves so that the glory of God may now be manifested in our lives.

So the next the time a challenge comes your way; that kind of obstacle that makes you feel so frustrated and hopeless, the best thing to do is surrender your all and tell God “I have truly come to the end of my own strength” and He will surely come through for you.

Go into today knowing and remembering that God is a present help in time of need (see Psalm 46:1). He will never come too late.

Prayer: thank you Dear lord for bringing me to this glorious day you have made. Please help me to fully depend on you at all times, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

RESIST THE DEVIL
Hebrews 2:14-15; Ephesians 6:11

James 4: 7 "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."" The devil has been defeated. This is news to some people, but to others, it is a reality yet to be discovered. The reason countless millions are not aware of the defeat of the devil and the victory of Jesus Christ for man is because it hasn't been told to them; they have not yet heard the good news. Jesus, in His substitutionary work for man, defeated the devil in a combat, and won for man the age long awaited victory. Adam, in the Garden of Eden, lost out to the devil. He obeyed the devil by disobeying God. He sold out to him by committing high treason. God had made Adam king over the whole earth prior to that time. The scepter was with him before the devil came in subtly, dangling the carrot of deceit. The devil deceived man and stole away the scepter of dominion God had given him. What a loss! However, Jesus came to confront the devil in a fierce combat, triumphing over him and all the hosts of his demons. Now, man has back the authority he once lost, in the name of Jesus Christ. We can resist the devil in the Name of Jesus Christ and he will flee from us. The Word teaches to cast him out in that Name (Mark16: 17). What a joy! What a privilege! In the Name of Jesus, demons are subject to us. The whole world should hear this: The devil was defeated by Jesus, and that victory was for man; man has that victory NOW in the name of Jesus. The devil can oppress no more; his legal right to do so is no more. Praise the Lord!

JUDAH

Memorise:

Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee.
Genesis 49:8

Read: Isaiah 1:1-6

1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
3 The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.
4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
5 Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.
6 From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.
Message
The name ‘Judah’ means praise. Judah was chosen to be the chief and ruling tribe of the twelve tribes of Israel (Genesis 49:8-12). The sceptre of a king and the office of a lawgiver were all allotted to Judah. Genesis 4:10 says:
“The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.”
Judah is a similitude of the church. In Judah, we can see a shadow of the things to come with respect to the church. Just like Judah, believers are the royal priesthood, expected to show forth the praises of God (1 Peter 2:9-10).

The prophet Isaiah was sent with a message primarily to Judah and Jerusalem – the seat of Judah’s power (Isaiah 1:1). This message contained instructions, reproof, warnings, comfort and encouragement from God to His people. At the time of Isaiah’s prophecy, the kingdom of Israel had become divided and weakened through civil wars and conflicts with other nations. This same situation applies to the present-day church. The Church today engages in several battles. There are fights within and wars without (2 Corinthians 7:5). Judah was rebellious and ignorant (Isaiah 1:2). They were corrupt, degenerated, depressed, and laden with iniquity; having backslidden, forsaken God and provoked Him to anger. Just like Judah, many modern-day Christians live in ignorance and sin. In this deplorable state, the demand of God on Judah in Isaiah 1:16-18 was:
“Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
This speaks of repentance and total consecration. As a Christian, God expects that you present your body as a living sacrifice which must be holy and acceptable to Him (Romans 12:1). Your consecration to God should be personal, voluntary and sacrificial. How committed are you to God? Is your consecration total? Examine yourself.

Action Point:
Do a thorough self–assessment today. Repent of the short comings you identify.

Changing Thought Patterns 1

CHANGING THOUGHT PATTERNS 1

2 Cor 10:5-6: Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. KJV

Matt 28:18 :18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. NIV

As a young boy I was exposed to many stories that ended up creating in me a mindset that gives Satan most power. Even though I knew God was more powerful than Satan, I was more afraid of Satan than God and indeed was more conscious of Satan. I had more of a devil consciousness than a God consciousness. This kind of mindset in Africa has given room to a lot of demonic control even among Christians.

There is no doubt in my heart right now that such a mindset about the spirit realm (one that ascribes excessive power to the devil) is entirely wrong. This is an example of how much the mind of a man can be configured in such a way that it hinders the expression of the life of God and gives demons undue legal authorization to exert power in the life of believers.

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Christ; this means He is the only one with legal right to exert any form of power in both realms. That is why we can bind demons when we sense their operation in lives or in territories; because they do so illegally and we (as God’s agents of righteousness) have all legal right to bind them.

Go into today walking in the reality of this truth; all authority has been given unto Jesus; you are His representative here on earth (see 1 John 4:17b).

Prayer: father I thank you for the authority I have in your name. I pray you help me truly walk in this authority, in Jesus name

HAVE COMPASSION ON THEM

Memorise:
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Matthew 28:19
Read: Matthew 9:36-38

36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Message
Our God is a counting God who is interested in numbers. He is interested in your advancement. He is interested in your prosperity, peace of mind and growth. Candidly, God is interested in the growth of His Church – local, national and global. There are many secrets of church growth which include: good biblical leadership, mobilising the congregation, a balanced spiritual diet, prayer, faith, answers to prayers, evangelistic outreaches, creativity & resourcefulness, finance etc. Are you a Christian worker or a minister of the gospel? Is your church or parish a growing church? For a church to grow, she must be interested in growth. Such a church must cater for the needs of the spirit, soul and body of her members. There is real fellowship in a growing church. It must be blessed with an obedient Pastor, who is a positive thinker. A growing church is committed to reaching the unreached for Christ and using evangelistic methods that work.

Aggressive evangelism is a secret of church growth. It is a process whereby the presentation of the gospel is done zealously, compassionately and in a Christ-like manner. Aggressive evangelism takes two forms which are: aggressive personal evangelism and aggressive mass evangelism (i.e. evangelism to a group of people). Are you a soul winner? Soul winners are wise. Aggressive evangelism is what sincere soul winners practice. This requires genuine consecration, commitment and resolute determination. Aggressive evangelism is a secret of church growth for many reasons. First, it produces abundant and lasting results. Second, it embraces all the other principles of church growth. Third, it motivates Christians to pray. Fourth, it succeeds where other methods fail. For aggressive evangelism to be effective, there must be thorough preparation. This includes spiritual preparation in form of prayer and fasting, humility, obedience to the voice of the Spirit, holiness, consecration and willingness to do the work. There should also be physical preparation in the form of audience analysis, getting the site for the outreach and forming a committee that will assist in the work. The message of aggressive evangelism should be heart-felt and presented with conviction (Acts 2:36). It must be Spirit-inspired in order to bring about repentance and joy (Acts 8:5-8). Finally, the fruits of aggressive evangelism (souls) must be guarded jealously and preserved in love till they meet Christ in glory. This is made possible through equally aggressive follow-up and discipleship. A church that engages in aggressive evangelism will grow spiritually and numerically, and Christ’s Name will be glorified.

Action Point:
Share the gospel with at least one soul today. Be aggressive in evangelism

Access Through His Name

Access Through His Name
Philippians 2:9-10; Ephesians 5:20

John 16:23-24 "And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full."" Jesus gave us, "in His Name"", a blank cheque to fill with whatever we desire from His Father. What a privilege! Jesus is the only way to the Father (John 14:6). His name is our sure access to the Father. We cannot receive anything from the Father in any other name other than the name of Jesus. By the authority of God's Word, we are to come to the Father in the name of Jesus. Beloved, when we come to the Father in the name of Jesus, it is as though Jesus were before the Father to ask of Him. We are one with Him in that name. In that name, the Father sees us in Him and Him in us. Halleluyah! We are no longer strangers in His presence because we have come in the name of Jesus (Eph. 2:12-13). In that name we are heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ Jesus. Now we are the children of God and He is our Father (1 John 3:1-2). So we can ask the Father for whatever we desire because we are his children. Jesus tells us how to pray, "â¦.when you pray, say our Fatherâ¦"" We are not to pray to Jesus; we are not to pray to angels, we are not to pray to any man or woman in the Bible. We also don't pray in the name of angels because our prayers will not be answered if we pray that way. Our prayers must be addressed simply to our Father in Jesus' Name. Praying to the Father in the Name of Jesus guarantees the Father's answer and Jesus' endorsement. Beloved, ask the Father for something today in the Name of Jesus and you will see the result of your obedience to God's Word.

A Point Of Love

A POINT OF LOVE

1 cor 16:14
Do everything in love
NLT

We realize that in work with God the rules are different from the work in the world; in God your work is judged by your motives and your faithfulness. This is the reason why sometimes the most active people in church are not always the most spiritual. The truth is that in the kingdom of God, what you do is not as important as why you’re doing it.

In order for your services to be acceptable to God it must be done in love. So before we do anything for God we should always ask ourselves “why am I really doing this”. If your motives are corrupted, your service will not be acceptable before God.

Go into today knowing that your services can only be acceptable to God when they come from a point of love; love for God and love for your neighbors.

Prayer: thank you heavenly father because the love of God has been shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Ghost; I now have the grace to do everything in love. I pray I will never neglect this grace and walk in the flesh again. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

The Glorious Name Of Jesus

The Glorious Name Of Jesus
John 14:13-14; Mark 16:17-18

John 14:13-14 "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my Name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do [it]."" From the Scripture above, we understand that the Name of Jesus in the mouth of the Believer brings Jesus on the scene. Jesus said, "If you demand anything in my name I will do it"". This reveals the authority given to the Believer, in Christ Jesus, to use the name of Jesus. We can demand anything in the name of Jesus Christ and He will grant it unto us. This is the power of attorney He gave us to exercise authority in His name. God has made Jesus Christ Lord over all things in heaven, on earth and under the earth. Christ reigns as Lord (Phil. 2:9-11). Over the three realms of existence, Jesus Christ reigns as Lord (Phil. 2:9-11). The Church has not yet come to the full awareness of the benefits and the power invested in that Name. When we do, we will transform our world the same way Jesus did His when He walked on the earth. When we come to the knowledge that the same Jesus with whom nothing is impossible, is present whenever we call His Name, then we will become bold to use His Name. The truth is, when His name is called, He comes on the scene. He and His name are one. He is not apart from His name. It means that when you command sicknesses or diseases to leave in Jesus' name, He will drive them out. When you cast out demons and evil spirits in His Name, He will see to it that they are evicted. When we pray in His name, we should bear in mind that it is as though Jesus Himself were asking of the Father and this guarantees us answers every time we pray in His Name.

The Renewed Mind

THE RENEWED MIND

Rom 12:2
2 Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God - what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.
NET

The renewing of your mind is a more gradual process than the rebirth of your spirit that happened when you became born again.

As you walk with the Holy Spirit, He teaches you His ways and this changes the way you think to the way Christ thinks. As your mind is being renewed to the mind of Christ, you begin to see things the way Christ sees things and this means what you perceive to be good is what Christ perceives to be good; what is good by the judgment of your renewed mind is also Good by God's judgment. This means what your renewed mind proves to be good, acceptable and perfect is what the will of the lord is.

If you are faced with a situation where you really need to know the will of God because of a crucial decision, the will of God is what your renewed mind proves to be good, acceptable and perfect in that situation. This is the most common way God leads His sons- by their renewed minds; minds renewed by the word.

Go into today determined to be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father for giving me the opportunity of a renewed mind to the mind of Christ. I pray you help me achieve this in Jesus name. Amen

Identifying Pride

IDENTIFYING PRIDE

Memorise:
And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
Matthew 23:12

Read: Isaiah 14:12-17

12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
Message
One of the most subtle and hazardous problems of leadership is the peril of pride. The very fact that a man has risen to a position of leadership with its attendant prominence tends to engender secret self-congratulation and pride which if not checked, will make such a fellow unfit for further advancement in the service of God’s kingdom. Pride is a fundamental sin that aims at enthroning self at the expense of God. Pride was the sin that converted Lucifer from an anointed cherub and guardian of the throne of God, to the devil – the leader of evil and the most cruel and unpleasant spirit. It was this same pride that caused the expulsion of Lucifer from Heaven. Isaiah 14:12 says,
“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!”

Pride is subtle. It is a sin whose presence its victim is least conscious of. This hydra-headed spiritual monstrosity assumes various forms. The most abhorrent of these forms is spiritual pride. Since pride is a subtle sin, how can you discover whether or not you have succumbed to its flatteries? First, spiritual pride manifests itself mostly in Christian service. To identify whether you manifest pride in your service or not, you should endeavour to sincerely answer these questions: How do you react when another person is selected for the assignment you expected? How do you react when another person is promoted and you are overlooked? How do you react when another person outshines you in gifts and accomplishments? Secondly, be honest. How do you feel when others, especially your rivals say negative things about you? Thirdly, submit yourself to the test of criticism. This is part of the price that must be paid daily by a leader. No leader is exempted from criticism. It should be noted that there is nothing else that so kills the efficiency, capability and initiative of a leader as unhelpful, destructive criticism. It tends to hamper and undercut the efficiency of a man’s thinking process. It chips away at his self-respect and undermines his confidence in his ability to cope with his responsibilities. However, criticism is equally a powerful instrument in assessing the presence of pride in a leader’s life. The pride or humility of a leader can be clearly seen in the leader’s reaction to criticisms. To identify the presence of pride in your life, you should ask if criticism causes hostility and resentment in your heart, causes you to immediately try to justify yourself and if you hasten to respond by in turn criticising the critic.

Action Point:
To overcome the peril of pride, you should be honest and measure yourself by the life of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who humbled Himself, even to death on the cross.

Acceptable Sacrifice

ACCEPTABLE SACRIFICE

Rom 12:1-2
Therefore I exhort you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice - alive, holy, and pleasing to God - which is your reasonable service. 2 Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God - what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.
NET

In presenting your body to the lord, your mind has to be renewed because your mind controls your body. It is the renewing of your mind to the mind of Christ that produces the transformation needed to be holy and acceptable to God. Keep renewing your mind with the word of God
Remember the bible says this book of the law shall not depart out of your thou shall meditate on it day and night there in thou shall have good success

Go into today determined to change the ideals of your mind that are contrary to the principles of the kingdom of God. You learn these principles by studying the word of God and opening yourself to the teachings of the Holy Spirit.
It is time to stop believing those things you believed that are contrary to God's word/truths concerning your life.

Prayer: Thank you heavenly father for making me your own and giving me a renewed mind. I pray you help me walk in the daily reality of this, in Jesus name. Amen

Speak The Word

Speak The Word
Proverbs 18:21; 1 Peter 3:10

Ephesians 4:29 "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers". The believer's mouth is a fountain of life and grace. Our mouth ought to communicate the grace and glory of God. Our opening verse reveals this truth in its purest form. The Word admonishes us to let no corrupt communication proceed out of our mouth. What is corrupt communication? Any speech that is not consistent with the Word or nature of God is corrupt. This means we are meant to only speak the word because anything that is apart or estranged from the Word is corrupt. Again, our opening verse reveals that we are responsible for whatever we say. It says, "let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth......"" meaning it's my responsibility whatever I say. If I let corrupt communication out of my mouth, I shouldn't say the devil did that. I should just own up to it and repent as fast as I can. Beloved, you are responsible for your mouth and whatever comes out of it. Take responsibility now; the earlier, the better for you. Refuse to blame the devil or other people for the loose things you say. Make yourself accountable to God for every word that comes out of your mouth. Nonetheless, there's another revelation and instruction in our opening verse. It says to only speak words which are good to the use of edifying that can minister grace, not disgrace, to the hearers. Beloved, you can order your conversation or speech in such a way that you can bless and lift those who hear you, that is, you are not only responsible for what you say but how you say it. Beloved, let your words begin to bless, heal, edify, lift and encourage from today. Make your words count as you learn to speak the Word of God continually.

Our Walk Of Faith

The Leverage daily devotional by Pastor Segun Obadje

Our Walk Of Faith
Ephesians 2:8-9; Colossians 2:6

2 Peter 3:18 "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen". A walk is a series of steps in the right direction. Our walk in Christ is of faith. We make progress in the Lord by faith. We are not meant to crawl in Him; we are to walk in Him. At Salvation, we were born into the Family of God. We got saved by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8-9). It is a vital principle of God's kingdom that was revealed to us at New Birth, that is, Salvation came by grace through faith. It is worthy of note that if Salvation (the greatest demonstration of God's benevolence) came by grace through faith, it follows that God has laid the precedence of how other things of salvation would come thereafter – BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH. The Word of God has shown us how to walk in Christ Jesus. How? It says "as you received Christ Jesus, So walk in Him"" How did we receive Him? It was BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH (Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 10:9-10). The same way we trusted Him to save us by acting on His Word, is the same way we walk in Him. We walk in Him as we learn to abide in Him by putting God's Word first and then practice it by faith. Keep the Word in your mouth of who you are in Him, who He is in you, what you have in Him, who the Father is to you, what you can do through His Word and the power of His Spirit. Beloved, act out these realities in your daily life and you will experience God on a new level.

Other Scriptures for Meditation: John 15:7; Matthew 7:24-27

My Solid Front (Confession)
In the Name of Jesus, I affirm "I am of God and God lives big in me by His Spirit. Today I give expression to who I am in Christ by acting on God's word"". Amen.

You Are Now God's Responsibility

YOU ARE NOW GOD’S RESPONSIBILITY

Rom 12:1
Therefore I exhort you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice - alive, holy, and pleasing to God - which is your reasonable service.
NET

When you became born again you accepted Jesus Christ as the lord of your life. This means Jesus is now the owner of your life. The reason why you are to present your body to God as living sacrifice is because you have been bought with a price. You are no more your own- this is one of the foundational truths of the kingdom of God.

Tomorrow we shall see in more detail how to present our bodies to the God as a living sacrifice. When you present your body this way to God, you will now be an expression of Christ. Your life will now express His nature and character; His power and His glory.
This is all the service that is required from you in the kingdom- that you present your body to the lord; holy and acceptably to Him.

Go into today knowing that you are no longer your own but you've been bought with a price. This means that you are now God's direct responsibility and nothing can happen to you by accident.

Prayer: Thank you father for making me your responsibility. I pray you give me grace to never reject your authority over me, in Jesus name I pray. Amen

Faithfulness

TOPIC: Faithfulness [Wednesday October 8, 2014]

MEMORISE: His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Matthew 25:23

MESSAGE:

Unfaithfulness or disloyalty is a challenge facing Christian leadership today. Inability to be faithful, loyal, stable and consistent is the greatest killer of ministries and businesses. The feeling that there is a shorter and quicker way to achieve goals is present in all men. Satan capitalises on this tendency and many people, including Christians, are tricked into following rebels and dissident visionaries.

Many people are unfaithful to their superiors out of ignorance. The problem of unfaithfulness is not limited to the world; it is also seen in the church. The devil uses the example of tyrannical church leaders to create a culture of rebellion and disloyalty within the church. 1 Corinthians 4:2 says:
“Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.”
Christians are to be faithful to God and to their leaders – both spiritual and secular. Leaders also are expected to be faithful to their followers and subordinates. Are you a church leader? You have to be careful in your utterances and actions, so as not to cause rebellion and disloyalty within your ranks.

Without knowing it, many church leaders are essentially rebellious and disloyal. They teach their followers rebellion by the things they say and do; yet they do not understand why anyone is unfaithful or disloyal to them. There are at least three common causes of disloyalty in people. First, there are some people whose personality can best be described as erratic. These are people who have a disposition to making sudden decisions. They can alter the plan of their life within minutes. They can change their entire course within seconds. This is a very dangerous trait. The ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ is not safe in the hands of erratic leaders. Today, they are ministers of the gospel, tomorrow they become social activists. Some switch suddenly from being full time ministers of Christ to becoming full time politicians. One day, they are faith preachers; the next day, they are against the faith movement. The second cause of disloyalty is financial considerations. The third common cause of disloyalty is a deviation from God’s direction for your life. Many people miss God’s direction for their lives and because of this, they end up in complicated situations. Such people are often forced into disloyalty by their own mistakes. God expects that you should be faithful to Him. You should also be faithful to your leaders and your subordinates. Finally, be faithful to your calling and be responsible in financial matters.

ACTION POINT: Resolve to be faithful to your leaders and subordinates today.

Pay Attention To God's Word
Jeremiah 15:16; Matthew 4:4

Proverbs 4:20 "My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings" It is worthy of note that what you pay attention to rules your life. Our attention is our devotion. Nobody can be bigger than or more successful than his or her attention. Our opening scripture gives God's charge to us. It admonishes us to pay attention to the instructions of God, whereby we are taught, enlightened and guided. It says to incline our ears to God's Word, that is, we are to hear, to do or act upon the Word only. This is very important for our well-being in life. Reading subsequent verses of the same chapter gives deeper insight as to how and why we ought to pay attention to the Word of God. The Word declares in verse 21, "Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart"; this talks about paying attention to God's Word by making it our focus and only priority. In verse 22, it talks about the reward of paying attention to the Word, "For they are life unto those that find them and health to all their flesh". Paying attention to the Word is rewarding, in that God's very own life is poured out into our lives, such that we and everything we do lives. Not only does it revitalize our spirits, it also revives our body - from the crown of our head to the soles of our feet. Paying attention to God's Word causes everything in us and around us to burst forth with fresh and abundant life daily. This is awesome, isn't it?

Other Scriptures for Meditation: Psalm 119:154; Deuteronomy 8:2-3
