Give Yourself To Prayer
Ephesians 6:18; 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Luke 18:1 "And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint" Prayer is an essential part of the believer's life; it's as important as breathing. Prayer ought not to be an intermittent discharge, but a flow and a life. In our opening verse, Jesus told a parable to the end that men ought always to pray, and not to faint. There are two basic points He stressed in that verse: That prayer ought to be ceaseless and that prayer should be with perseverance without fainting. This shows the possibility of fainting and interruption of flow in prayer. We are not to let our flesh have its way in our prayer life. The Word declares in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, "Pray without ceasing", and again in Acts 6:4, "But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word". Due to the fact that prayer is a ceaseless flow or life that ought not to fail, we ought to give ourselves to it continually without fail. In Acts 6:1-6, there arose a discord between the Grecian and Hebrew widows over daily ministration of food, but the apostles responded to the crisis correctly. Peter stood up and said for the brethren to look within themselves seven men, whom they could appoint over that business; but as for them (the apostles), they would give themselves continually to prayer and the ministry of the Word. This decision was imperative for the effectiveness and increase of the Church thereafter. Beloved, God deserves all of you in continuous prayer. The best of us and of God in us is revealed to our world when we give ourselves continually in ceaseless and importuned prayers. You ought to give yourself to prayer
