Give Attention To The Important
1 Corinthians 14:40; 1 Corinthians 6:12
Luke 10: 42 "But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her." Of the many matters we attend to in life, very few are important. Some matters are important, while others are urgent. The important are matters of priority, while the urgent are matters of spontaneous needs. Though every important matter ought to be urgent, yet the reverse is true in many cases. Many trivialize important issues of life just because they are not always very urgent. For example, it is not always urgent to bathe your body every day, but it is always important. Furthermore, it is not always urgent to meditate on God's Word every day, but it is always important. To neglect to attend to the important is to create a bizarre emergency that will take more effort to fix than it would naturally take to attend to the important. Martha was preoccupied with fixing a meal for Jesus. Mary, her sister, sat at the feet of Jesus listening to Him with rapt attention. Martha was agitated because Mary wouldn't come over to the kitchen to lend a helping hand. Martha supposed her service for the Master was more important than listening to Him. But she got it all wrong. Jesus precipitated the important as against the urgent. He said: "But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her." It is important to give the Word first place in your life. In the midst of the many things we do, one thing stands out unparalleled â our attention to God's Word. As important as serving God is, it cannot be compared to giving heed to God's Word. In Proverbs 4:20, the Word declares: "My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings."
Other Scriptures for Meditation: Proverbs 4:20-22; Matthew 4:4
My Solid Front (Confession)
In the Name of Jesus, I declare that I do everything decently and orderly, I therefore attend to the important things. Amen
